I am hoping that 2012 is a great year for everyone.

On Monday, January 16th, 2012 at 10AM, New Jersey Cares and Jefferson Elementary School hosted the MLK Day of Service Mural Painting Part 2. December is moving so fast!!!!!! I am VERY excited for Winter Break.

How are you? I am checking in to see how everyone is doing. A lot has happened to me since the summer. I was a Summer Camp Counselor at the Plainfield Area YMCA, I had the pleasure of working with about 30 First and Second Grade Campers. It was an experience I will NEVER forget and I can't wait to do it again next summer.

SCHOOL CHANGE: I recently transferred schools from Union Catholic HS, I am now at Plainfield High School. I was upset about the change, but now I am starting to warm up to the school; trying to make the best out of the change.

WORK AND SCHOOL: I am still working at the Plainfield Y, I am the Babysitter. I like the job because, I get to work with kids still and I like kids. This is also giving me more experience with working with younger children since I want to become an Elementary School Teacher.

THE LEADERSHIP PROJECT: I am still President of The Leadership Project at Jefferson School. We have had MORE students join. Our Membership Population Range comes from Plainfield High School, Hubbard MS, and PAAAS.

EXPANDING OUR BRAND: We recently took on a Cook K-7 Center Chapter, under the Direction of Mr. James R. Malkmus, Physical Education Teacher. This chapter is in conjunction with the Jefferson School Chapter. The Jefferson Chapter has been on the scene since 2003!

MY PERSPECTIVE: It's been a bumpy Three months so far with juggling School, Work, The Leadership Project and College Stuff. Please come out and support the Jefferson School Community on December 14th, 2011 at 6:30pm, we will be having our Winter Concert and The Leadership Project will be having a Bake Sale. Please stop by and donate to our program, all of the proceeds will be going to our program. I will be posting again soon to remind you about the Bake Sale. I hope you all have a Fantastic Week!

What a week so far!!! Last minute school shopping, Hurricane Irene (coming this weekend), and the EARTHQUAKE.

WHERE WERE YOU? Where were you when the earthquake was felt? I was at the Barclays Golf Tournament at the Plainfield Country Club in Edison, New Jersey. I didn't felt it because A: I wasn't sitting on the ground and B: I wasn't paying to much attention. I was on a Camp Field Trip. As some of you know, the Barclays Tournament has been a VERY big deal for the past two weeks, I saw some of the Cameras move around; but didn't think much of it. A 5.9 Magnitude Earthquake, struck the Richmond, Virginia area; and aftershocks were felt in NY, NJ, NC, OH, and MA. Did you feel it? Were you scared? What are your thoughts toward it?
-REASSIGNED

I went to the Board Meeting on August 16th, 2011 and was it an INTERESTING one. I don't blame parents one bite for being concerned about their Principal being reassigned to another school. What I don't understand is, Why do it two weeks before the new school year? Was your child's Principal transferred/reassigned? How do you feel about it? Why do you think it happened?
Today I will make a difference. I will begin by controlling my thoughts. A person is the product of his thoughts. I want to be happy and hopeful. Therefore, I will have thoughts that are happy and hopeful.
I refuse to be victimized by my circumstances. I will not let petty inconveniences such as stoplights, long lines, and traffic jams be my masters. I will avoid negativism and gossip. Optimism will be my companion, and victory will be my hallmark. Today I will make a difference.

I will be grateful for the twenty-four hours that are before me. Time is a precious commodity. I refuse to allow what little time I have to be contaminated by self-pity, anxiety, or boredom. I will face this day with the joy of a child and the courage of a giant.
I will drink each minute as though it is my last. When tomorrow comes, today will be gone forever. While it is here, I will use it for loving and giving. Today I will make a difference.

I will not let past failures haunt me. Even though my life is scarred with mistakes, I refuse to rummage through my trash heap of failures. I will admit them. I will correct them. I will press on. Victoriously. No failure is fatal. It’s OK to stumble…I will get up. It’s OK to fail…I will rise again. Today I will make a difference.

I will spend time with those I love. My spouse, my children, my family. A man can own the world but be poor for the lack of love. A man can own nothing and yet be wealthy in relationships. Today I will spend at least five minutes with the significant people in my world. Five quality minutes of talking or hugging or thanking or listening. Five undiluted minutes with my mate, children, and friends.
Today I will make a difference.
MY PERSPECTIVE: This piece of writing was written by Max Lucado. It is something that I absolutely like and hope you like it to. Tell me what you think.
